At Rowse Honey, Valeo Foods UK, we are switching our black plastic caps to gold on our familiar Squeezy honey bottles as part of a move to make all Rowse Honey packaging 100% recyclable.
Black plastic is particularly difficult to recycle as the Near Infra-Red technology widely used in plastic recycling simply does not recognise or sort the colour black.
We have already started phasing out the use of black plastic bottle caps and will remove in total 100 tonnes of black plastic from our supply chain, preventing it from going to landfill or incineration. We are also phasing in the use of recycled plastic in our plastic bottles. This initiative will remove a further 135 tonnes of virgin plastic from our supply chain annually.
